Founding Engineer (AI / Backend)

You will build and operate a multilingual, chat-based AI concierge system for inbound tourists to Korea.

This role owns Product 3: a temporary but strategically critical product that combines AI-assisted conversations with human intervention to guarantee high-quality concierge support and generate data for future automation.

This is a hands-on backend role, not an ML research position.

What You Will Build

• A chat-based AI concierge on messaging platforms (LINE, WhatsApp)
• AI-assisted response generation using LLM APIs
• A human-in-the-loop control layer for real-time intervention
• Internal dashboards to monitor and manage conversations
• Systems to log user intent, AI responses, human actions, and outcomes
• Integrations that guide users toward booking flows on the platform

Core Responsibilities

• Design and implement backend services for messaging-based concierge
• Integrate LLM APIs for: response drafting, intent extraction
• Build operator-facing dashboards that allow: real-time visibility into all chats, AI override and human takeover
• Implement structured logging of conversations and outcomes
• Support multilingual operation: English / Japanese / Chinese
• Coordinate with the Platform Engineer to: surface relevant tours or services, hand off users to booking flows when appropriate

Required Skills

• Strong backend engineering experience
• Experience working with LLM APIs
• Experience integrating chat or messaging platforms
• Comfortable building internal tools for operations
• Strong operational mindset (real users, real-time issues)

Must-have Tech Stack

• Backend development in Python or Node.js
• API framework (FastAPI, Express, or equivalent)
• Messaging APIs (LINE, WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.)
• LLM APIs (OpenAI or equivalent)
• Relational database for conversation and outcome logs
• Basic cloud deployment experience
